Francisco Munoz Lopez
Naturalist, Field Guide, Travel Expert
Francisco has over a decade of professional guiding experience throughout Central America. Born and raised in beautiful Costa Rica, Francisco is most passionate about protecting and preserving wildlife and habitat. He has participated in various research projects throughout the country, from protecting turtle nesting sites, to marine mammal identification, and the study of distinct Howler Monkey populations. Francisco studied management of wildlife in the Tropical Forest and received his degree in Ecology and Eco-Tourism from the University of Costa Rica.
Francisco has guided groups as diverse as they come throughout Costa Rica and Nicaragua. He excels in travel planning and the logistics of adventure based excursions. From leading 40+ international students doing ecology research and humanitarian projects, to groups of science professors studying geology abroad. Francisco’s knowledge and expertise are invaluable when it comes to traveling far and wide in the heartlands of Costa Rica. Francisco’s range of skills varies from white-water river rafting and kayaking to working high in the canopy treetops on the zip-lining platforms, to managing both private and group expeditions. He is a qualified and experienced wilderness first-aid responder and the bridge for multi-cultural learning.
When it comes to learning about the local ecology Francisco takes us deep into the forest, with scope in hand, to see for ourselves the rich diversity of life Costa Rica has to offer.
